Our generation has had the opportunity to witness some of the most remarkable moments in history, as well as learn about historical moments that have taken place within this century alone. On the 6th of May 1954, Roger Bannister became the first man in history to run a sub-4 minute mile. July 26,1969 Neil Armstrong was the first man to step foot on the moon. And this week, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Michael Jordan, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Yes these examples may be considered as cliché, but each one of these men have achieved great heights of achievement in their careers and both share Mastery of Self – Confidence From being told that “no man has ever, nor ever will, run a sub-4 minute mile, “ “you will die, if you attempt to go to the moon,” to “your too short to play at the varsity level,” as Michael Jordan stood at 5’11” his sophomore year in high school. What made each one of these men special is that they made it a mission to prove society wrong, and fulfilled that mission successfully. What brought them through these adversities was their Self – Confidence, or what Anthony Robbins has termed Personal Power!
Our skepticism is the reaffirming self – fulfilling prophecy that disables us from progress and self – development. There is no room for skepticism since we currently live in an age where we have seen more of Nature’s Laws revealed and harnessed, compared to any other time in history of the human race, in which we have truly not scratched the surface of knowledge. As a society, we have sought out new ways to live more energy efficient, cure illnesses such as Cancer and HIV and put an end to poverty in third world countries. With this said, we can all agree that we still have a long way to go, but with the rapid advancements of technology we have been able to make a significant amount of progress in a shorter amount of time. As our research & development begins to grow, people like you and I will also need to grow as well and the first place to start would be within our selves and our self – confidence. Whatever it is that you desire, want, or need in your life, you need to make it a must to eliminate that demon called fear that sits upon your shoulder and whispers into your ear. “You can’t do it – you are afraid to try – you are afraid of public opinion – you are afraid that you will fail – you are afraid you have not the ability.”
“We have already found out enough about the human mind to know that a man may throw off the accumulated effects of a thousand generations, of fear, through the aid of the principle auto – suggestion. We have already discovered the fact that fear is the chief reason for poverty and failure and misery that takes on a thousand different forms. We have already discovered the fact that the man who masters fear may march on to successful achievement in practically any undertaking, despite all efforts to defeat him.” – Napoleon Hill
