Old Age is inevitable except for those we may lose prior to that day and age, obviously. What is it about Old Age that we fear as humans? The debate of whether to pay our mortgage or prescription medicine? The fear that we’ll need a hip replacement? Seeing other people around us die off like flies? Or the simple fact that we will really begin counting down the days until we see the white light before us.
The Fear of Old Age actually originates from two sources. The first assumption is that with Old Age comes poverty and secondly, with Old Age we enter a more dreadful world than the one we have been previously living in all this time. The reason why man has learned to fear Old Age is due to his growing distrust of his fellow men that may seize whatever worldly goods he may possess, and the other arises from the vivid pictures in our minds of the world of Old Age to come, which also stems from our generational thinking.
Surely the best thing to do is to embrace Old Age rather than fear it! What are you living for? To live a life of mediocrity or a life of excellence and accomplishment? To be another fallen soldier (no pun intended) or to leave a legacy not only for your family, but to society? What experiences will you have to share when that day comes?
When the day of old age hits, achieve to school younger generations with your wisdom. What they choose to do with that bit of wisdom lies within their court, but at least you could leave that experience feeling that you may have impacted the lives of others in a positive way, so its really a win – win situation if you think about it since you will gain some self – gratification. The Golden Years aren’t called the Golden Years for nothing, so “KEEP IT GOLDEN PONY BOY!” The time is now to begin building your wisdom muscle.
